Solstice Meet Ups

The Summer 2024 Solstice Celebration at Kult Club in DTLA on June 20 marked the launch of Creators United, a semiannual meet-and-greet event for artists and art enthusiasts. These gatherings will continue with smaller sessions during the Fall and Spring equinoxes.

At DeepARTment, we’re here to support those who need a hand in keeping their creativity alive despite the challenges of starting over. We believe that creativity is what makes life flourish—it’s humanity’s answer to conflict. If you’re passionate about the arts — visual, performing, or musical — you’re invited to join our projects. And if you’re inspired to support creativity through financial contributions, we’d love for you to be part of our community too.

DeepARTment initiated this project to support immigrant artists and creatives affected by the Russia-Ukraine war, helping them integrate into North American, particularly Californian, society—a place they now call home.

This year’s Summer Solstice event was about first introductions, getting to know one another, and celebrating the peak of natural energy together.

Our vision for creating a welcoming space where diverse individuals can connect in a safe, relaxed, and friendly environment stems from our own experiences as immigrants shaped by Soviet principles. We know how challenging adaptation can be, especially for creatives.

It’s crucial for newly arrived artists to find a supportive community, and equally important for Americans to help them become positively contributing members of the society. That’s why we invite everyone to join—because America thrives on diversity.

At the event, we met many talented artists from Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia, all coming together to celebrate creativity. Three members of The Alta Arts Group (Pasadena area) were specially introduced by host Eva Love and each received an honorary Summer Solstice 2024 Fractus.

The Winter Solstice on December 21, 2024, will serve as the closing show of the Art Against War Festival. This event will also kick off the production of a Belarusian-American animated Bunraku-style play. It will be supported by the Help Yoka Stop the War exhibit, which will showcase production plans, introduce Belarusian artists, and feature illustrations from Japanese Bunraku theater.
